Have you ever accidentally received something you were supposed to?

Sometimes you end up in a situation that you wish you hadn't, and there is nothing you can do about it. You've found yourself in a pickle, and there's not a lot you can do to get out of it. The person in this story, who was shared to the work subreddit, was in one of those particular situations. They knew that something was wrong, but they didn't know what they could do to fix it. When a mistake works out in your favor, is it on you to be the one to fix it? Or should the person who made the mistake have to be the one to rectify it? The employee here was caught in that world, where they got an unexpected windfall, and then realized that they probably shouldn't have. But when you randomly get a truckload of money, should you have to let it go just because someone else messed up? What if the money didn't belong to you in the first place? For a lot of us, $6k is a lot of money. For this worker, it was the difference between paying off a credit card bill and continuing to accumulate debt. But the problem was, he wasn't sure if the money actually belonged to him or not. After doing some digging, they realized that they probably didn't come into the money honestly. If something seems like it's too good to be true, it probably is. But that's easier said than done. When you receive money that feels like it will change your life, then you probably want to hold onto it with everything you've got. The employee in this story certainly did. But the longer they thought about it, the more they knew that they should probably let it go. But letting it go was not going to be as easy as it seemed.
